Fandoms: Hikaru no Go, Ender's Game
Genre: Drama, Crossover, Space opera
Characters: Shindou Hikaru, Nase Asumi, Hong Suyong
Wordcount: 12,360 words
Summary: The last story in my Hikago/Ender's Game crossover series, which started with "Hikaru's Game" in 2006. (Holy crap.) It is the Third Invasion, and Hikaru is the captain of a starship on the way to the war front. But along the way he comes to understand just how much he's been lied to about the nature of this war...

Title: The Language of War
Fandoms: Hikaru no Go/Ender's Game
Characters: Isumi, Le Ping, Yang Hai
Genre: Crossover, Drama
Wordcount: 11,586
Summary: Isumi is stuck at Interplanetary Launch as he waits for his next assignment. Then Le Ping shows up and confuses him with Mandarin and video games. (This is not a good summary.)
Spoilers: No obvious ones.
Note: A sequel to my fic Hikaru's Game. Won't make much sense if you haven't read that fic.
Thank you to
cryforthedream and [personal profile] februaryfour for the language help!

If there was one thing Isumi had not expected to see at the Interplanetary Launch, it was a small, hyperactive, Chinese version of Waya )

So once again I am writing a Hikago fic with Mandarin in it. Too bad I don't know Mandarin! Can anyone help translate a few lines for me?

The fic is a crossover with Ender's Game, but I think it's okay if you haven't read that book. The lines I want translated are pretty simple ones and don't require much understanding of the context.

Hikaru no Go/Ender's Game crossover, Waya, Ochi, Shindou, 6656 words, PG-13, no obvious spoilers for either series.
A sequel to my fic Hikaru's Game.

[Story edited July 23, 2012] One scene added and some other small changes made. HUGE thank you to [livejournal.com profile] cryforthedream for the detailed concrit!

In which Waya faces his own doubts, Ochi is annoying, and Battle School is tough nuts )

Hikaru no Go/Ender's Game crossover, Touya, Shindou, Waya,
2227 words, G, no obvious spoilers for either series.
A sequel to my fic Hikaru's Game.

Touya turned on his desk and found a life and death problem waiting for him. )

Dink in the Dark by flonnebonne
Ender's Game, Dink, Petra, 2570 words, PG, spoilers. Takes place almost immediately after the final battle.

"Everybody's OK now," said Dink. "Nothing was wrong with any of us that five days of cowering in blacked-out rooms in the middle of a war couldn't cure." )

The ever-lovely [profile] zoesque  has opened up a can of Hikago meta that has provoked a lot of thoughtful responses. The subject: will Hikaru ever tell Touya about Sai? Does he need to?

Fic Recs: FF6 and Ender's Game
Went trolling around the Pit of Voles in a fit of boredom and [community profile] blind_go procrastination. Found some excellent fics, which actually pisses me off because it means I'll have to go back to the Pit some time.

Season of Grace by Lirillith
Final Fantasy 6
, all characters. This story is so, so good. The plot: our heroes do their best to celebrate Christmas (er, Yuletide) in the World of Ruin. Hope among bleakness...isn't that what the game is about? Absolutely beautiful characterization, and the best job of world-building I've ever seen in an FF6 fic (I love how she integrates real-world cultures).

Brothers by Kage Chikara
Ender's Game. What if Ender had asked to see Peter instead of Valentine when he was at the lake? Intriguing concept, a great look into Peter and Ender's characters (I'm not too hot on Graff though), and the author has Orson Scott Card's style down pat.

What Wikipedia says about Easter WTF

"In Norway, in addition to skiing in the mountains and painting eggs for decorating, it is tradition to solve murders at Easter. All the major television channels show crime and detective stories (such as Poirot), magazines print stories where the readers can try to figure out who did it, and many new books are published. Even the milk cartons change to have murder stories on their sides."

"In the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia, a tradition of spanking or whipping is carried out on Easter Monday. In the morning, males throw water at females and spank them with a special handmade whip called pomlázka (in Czech) or korbáč (in Slovak). The pomlázka/korbáč consists of eight, twelve or even twenty-four withies (willow rods), is usually from half a metre to two metres long and decorated with coloured ribbons at the end. It must be mentioned that spanking normally is not painfull or intended to cause suffering. A legend says that females should be spanked in order to keep their health and beauty during whole next year. An additional purpose can be for males to exhibit their attraction to females; unvisited females can even feel offended."

I was convinced some joker had creatively reworked the page, but apparently it's all true. Unless the internet is playing a huge joke on me.

Written for [personal profile] tarigwaemir for guessing one of my fics correctly in blind_go round one. Character: Ender with Dragon Army, prompt: vertigo. This version is almost exactly the same as the original comment fic, aside from one highly embarrassing spelling mistake that is now corrected.

Every month once in a while, Orson Scott Card publishes a side-story from the Ender's Game universe and pads it with a bunch of content from other authors to form this thing known as the Intergalactic Medicine Show webzine. He charges $2.50 US an issue.

Sample: http://www.intergalacticmedicineshow.com/cgi-bin/mag.cgi?do=issue&vol=i3&article=_cheater

Oh, Battle School kids! How I have missed you. But do I miss you at the price of $2.50 a pop?

Admittedly, if I actually shelled out money I would probably read the other content as well. But the prime motivating factor would be the Ender stuff.

Title: Hikaru's Game
Fandom: Hikaru no Go/Ender's Game crossover

Characters: Hikaru, Touya, Sai, Waya, Isumi
Genre: Crossover, AU, drama
Spoilers: Vague spoilers up to and including Volume 15 or Episode 60 of Hikaru no Go. No real spoilers for Ender's Game.
Summary: Hikaru and Touya attend a school for gifted youngsters to train them for an alien invasion. A school on a space station. Seriously. And despite this very bad description, this is not a humour fic.

In the Ender's Game timeline, this story takes place about fifteen years after the Second Invasion and in the early, experimental stages of the Battle School. Any discrepancies in regards to how the school is run can be attributed to this. Yep.
