Rec a sports anime series for my mom?
Aug. 23rd, 2014 01:08 pmSo my mom has finished watching all of Prince of Tennis (she didn't seem surprised at all by the ending) and she doesn't want to watch any of the OAVs because they don't really finish their story lines.
Can anyone rec another series for her to watch?
She likes:
-silly, unrealistic stuff (eg: she likes Yowamushi Pedal and doesn't like Haikyuu)
-finished series
As much as I would love to give her Slam Dunk, I think it would be too slow for her. :(
[Edit] I forgot the mention that she has already seen Kuroko no Basket!

Basquash - I have admittedly not yet watched this myself, but it got put on my "too watch" list last month - it is complete at 26 episodes and the first line of the summary is: "In the future, basketball is played by giant robots called Bigfoots and the wealthy elite live on the moon."
There's also the Naruto sports festival movie?
Stuff I like but she might not:
Giant Killing - the focus is more on the manager who is kind of a combination between super crafty & whacky. XD The anime is complete but the manga is ongoing - 26 episodes
Baby steps - but this one is super realistic for tennis. It is like. The opposite of prince of tennis in it's approach.
Oofuri - again somewhat slow based and more realistic, but it's also cute & funny?
Ginban Kaleidoscope - Sakurano is a pretty, wealthy, talented figure skater. Then she gets possessed by a ghost! :D
Princess nine - some silliness but it's more character centric the silliness.

Date: 2014-08-24 04:31 pm (UTC)Ah! My mom loves Avatar! Legend of Korra too. When the third season of Korra is finished I'll let her watch that. Thanks for the reminder! I need to catch up on Korra myself.

Date: 2014-08-25 07:05 am (UTC)One thing she doesn't like is a lot of high-pitched yelling, so that's why we usually give her showmen stuff. She also doesn't like anything too heavy or too boring. Does DN angel fit the bill? I was thinking she might like hunter x hunter after we've done a few sports anime.

She might like HxH! You'll know quickly, anyway.
I don't suppose she'd be open to non-sports cutesy like Ouran?

Date: 2014-08-26 04:05 am (UTC)I think she might like cutesy/funny stuff even if it's not sports, but I'm pretty sure she would prefer action series judging by what she's sat down to watch with us so far. Also, she used to read x-men comics as a kid. She gets impatient with too much feels. I will take a look at angelic layer myself before I try it with her!
