Steamed rice

When people stay "steamed rice," do they actually mean the rice is cooked with steam and not in water?

If the rice is immersed in water when it's cooking (in a pot or an electric rice cooker or whatever), shouldn't that be called "boiled rice"? 

I make rice almost every day, but this I do not know.


p.s. healthy tip: put in some brown rice in your white rice, it's good for ya.

I think I'll have to soak my brown rice (it's Japanese, bought in Uwajimaya). It still doesn't get as fluffy and delicious as the white in my rice cooker.

My family actually likes the slight, er, crunchiness of the undercooked brown rice. But yiiisss, soaking makes sense. Just don't ever put your rice in water and forget about it for two days, like I did. It starts to stink.
