1) Re-read some of my old fics to see what my style is like, and trying to avoid some of the most obvious markers of my writing. Not that I'm going to tell you what those markers are, nyah. But I think the re-reading backfired because I ended up imitating the style of my own past fics. Euch. I also saw lots of things I wanted to edit in my old stories, so I procrastinated on that for a while...
2) Downloaded anime, but didn't watch it, because watching it would be procrastination! Well...I might have watched an episode of Ouran Host Club. And the Hunter x Hunter musicals. And the Naruto movie. And...okay, never mind.
3) Checked blind_go with a growing sense of desperation in the hopes that the deadline would be extended, and lo, it was! I felt like I was back in university during term paper season.
4) Played Fire Emblem: the Sacred Stones on my GBA. God, I hate Fire Emblem games. But I can't stop playing them. Stupid tactical RPGs. Whenever I'm playing one my life goes to hell.
5) Got a boyfriend. Yes, I was that desperate to procrastinate. But then I broke up with him as the deadline approached. I couldn't procrastinate that much.
Five things your probably never knew about me as a fanfic writer (or maybe you do):
1) I don't think I've ever actually posted a serious romance story on the net. In my misguided youth I may have started writing a sad little sword and sorcery epic or two with serious romance in it, but those pages of my childhood are thankfully buried in my hard drive or in a notebook somewhere. Now, parodies of romances, on the other hand...
2) I love deadlines metaphors. I love the tortured sounds they make as I beat them with a stick...over, and over, and over.
3) I try to tell myself that self-plagiarism is one of the worst crimes that an author can commit. I even wrote a short treatise on my views before abandoning it for more awesome things. Anyway, self-plagiarism is wanky. And you're writing gets stale. Too bad I do it all the time.
4) Description? What's that? That's that thing that non-lazy writers do, write? I mean, right?
5) Sometimes I fear that the characters in my stories are just talking heads who I've manipulated in order to get an idea across. Add this to my stunning lack of description to distinguish the characters, and the whole self-plagiarism thing, and you've got a whole lot of blah same blah.
Supposedly, reading this meme will help you identify my
