GetYourWordsOut: Year Thirteen!
Pledges & Requirements | getyourwordsout.net
For 2020, I pledged to write for 350 days of the year. I’ll probably end the year having written for about 290 days, which I think is not bad considering this stupid pandemic, my shoulder injury, feeling depressed and anxious about climate change, etc. Most of what I “wrote” was dictated aloud and transcribed into an app, so it’s all in super messy first draft form...but there is heckuva lot of it.
For 2021, I’m going to pledge to write 350 days again.
In terms of the actual content of my writing next year, my goal for is… well, I’ll have to see how my shoulders heal up first, so my goal is to not worry about what I can’t control, and to worry about things at the proper time!
How about the rest of you?

Date: 2021-01-06 04:00 pm (UTC)It's a bit funny, on one hand I kind of don't feel like writing but on the other, all my unfinished things and plotbunnies are sort of bugging me. I mean, I have that ages old intersex fic too that I've never even posted anywhere yet, and there's way too much of it that I can't just let it die away... (like, 150k of words, or something, I don't even know. >_>)

At the same time, I know that sometimes you need a break from all the thinking in your thesis! Or you need something to kind of channel those ideas in a similar yet related direction.
But I would really caution you to take care of your body while you’re working intensely on a thesis. Unless you’re doing a large percentage of your writing using voice to text technology while taking walks or something healthy like that…maybe it’s not about the best time to sign up for an additional heavy writing challenge. I mean, the master’s thesis is basically a writing challenge that you signed up for, and paid for! So it deserves your attention :-)
Anyway, the sign up period for get your words out is already over! You might be able to email the mods to get your way in, but I’m not sure.
Maybe instead of that, you could kind of set yourself an unofficial challenge to work on your master’s thesis X amount of time a week, get X amount of exercise each week, and maybe do a little creative writing each week?
