Kingdom Hearts 3...

...is possibly the most disappointing game I have ever played! Just my personal opinion, since I know other people like the game, but...man, what the hell were they thinking? The main story in particular was a huge letdown. I was actively starting to dislike Sora at certain points.

KH1 and KH2 did not make me feel this way.

But I do like this video: Kingdom Hearts Explained. (Note: this was released before KH3, so it is actually completely unrelated to the rest of this post.)

I actually enjoyed it! I agree the story was rushed, and there were some choices I wasn't thrilled with, but it was a fun game. I liked it waaaay better than 2, which is kind of a drag. :/

I did enjoy huge parts of it, actually! ...but that just made the overall disappointment much worse. I feel like the game had the potential to be great and it was just okay.

Part of what probably made it really disappointing for me was that I really enjoyed KH2, both in terms of gameplay and story (even though I recognize the millions of flaws in both), so for the past 12 years or so I've been waiting for KH3 to be similar but BETTER...but KH3 was so different, and not in ways that worked for me, ultimately. Everything just felt too...easy, both in terms of gameplay and story. I didn't get any sense of thrills or emotional connection to the game. It was very cute though, and sometimes really beautiful (especially the Tangled world). So it's not like the whole thing was awful for me. Just...disappointing.
