XD I'm currently in sailor moon fic withdrawal, so was re-reading things - your fic was on my bookmarks, and I do like the idea that in the end, SM-verse ISN'T so fairy-tale princessy as it first starts out.
Empire building and politics /would/ require dirtying one's hands, and I certainly see Neo-Queen Serenity of Crystal Tokyo being very DIFFERENT from the Usagi seen in canon. (CANONICALLY knowing she'd have to send her own singular offspring back to the past to SUFFER and come in risk of dying and fading from existence? The old Usagi would've been 'hell with this' and tried to make it so Chibiusa would've had SOME warning or protection, if not trying to throw herself into the whole time travelling mess and make it so NO ONE BLOODY SUFFERS.)
And Death Note. Ah, Death Note. I finished the series, but kind of lost interest once poor M and Matt went. -_- And it was a pretty anticlimatic finish .... much as a certain person DESERVED it.
It's so much MORE interesting to see good fanfiction trying to plug the plotholes/expand from a different perspective.
