[Hikaru no Go] Word games

According to ff.net, my story Go Fish is exactly 1001 words long. Uh, of course I made it that length on purpose. I'm a master of my craft, yo.

However, have been contemplating taking out a certain "the" in the story, which would make it exactly 1000 words long. 1000 is a nice round number and is approx. how long Sai was around for, but...I like 1001 better. It has a satisfying sort of imperfection about it that suits HnG well.

Gah. This is what happens when you get an English Lit. degree and you're forced to read stuff like "Gawain and the Green Knight," which was written back in the day when counting the number of words in a poem really was considered literary analysis.

Obviously I need a life. And to write new fanfics instead of obsessively scouring my old ones for mistakes but being too lazy to actually go in and make the changes.
