Boy lives in Tokyo. Boy meets Supernatural Being. Supernatural Being is weird and ancient but friendly. Supernatural Being hangs around boy all the time but no one can see him except Boy. Supernatural Being lends Boy Special Power.

Boy secretly uses Special Power. Then Boy meets Rival. Rival notices something is off about Boy. Boy says nya nya I'm not telling you. Rival suspects Boy is hiding something. Boy and Rival begin intricate dance of cat and mouse. Readers suspect Boy and Rival are gay. Boy's parents suspect not a thing.

Meanwhile, Yonkos around the world notice someone is using Special Power. World in uproar. Yonkos really want to know who is using Special Power. Yonkos obviously spend too much time on the internet.

Some Yonkos are studying and competing with each other in a School for Gifted Yonkos. Gifted Yonkos have to pass a kind of test to graduate, otherwise they get too old and are kicked out. That's why Gifted Yonkos are rather obsessive.

Rival is closest to figuring out what's up with Boy but never quite gets it right. Poor Rival. Rival gets (more) obsessive. Boy gets (more) obsessive too.

Girls are around but they don't do much. This is shonen manga.

Boy is destined to revolutionize the world! And Boy is aiming for godhood in some form or another. Boy's name means "light," so Boy probably has good chance of getting somewhere.

And if you need another hint...manga is drawn by Obata and written by Some Other Person. Readers worship Obata and Some Other Person.

Sadly, this posting could probably describe a lot of manga/anime, aside from the last two clues.

Most of these ideas were stolen from issen4's wonderful crossover fic A View of the Universe. But don't look at the fic until you can figure out what two series I'm talking about above!

Oh, yes, murinae also did a comparison of DN and HnG, which you might find interesting, if you haven't come across it before. She also wrote a crossover fic, Driven, which is much cooler than mine. *am so envious*

Oh yeah! I forgot to tell you about a weird coincidence...shinra_lackey told me she found out about Go Fish through your lj, and I, on a completely different note, asked her if she had seen a DN/HnG crossover with Hikaru teaching Raito how to play Go (I had read the fic a while back and promptly forgot where it was)...and of course she directed me to you. We must be star-crossed lj users or something.

Just read Driven. Whoa. Pretty awesome fic. Not saying it's any better or worse than yours though--they're actually very different in tone even if they're both crossovers. Now must go look for murinae's comparison of the two series. Feeling kind of miffed that someone wrote a DN/HnG comparison before me but am not too surprised.
