It certainly looks like a step backward, doesn't it? I noticed it too.
Even more telling is this trailer. It has a Middle Easternish setting, but the main characters here (the old man who rants in English, and the girl in the red Edea robe) both look white. Well, the girl looks half-Asian and half-white, the way FF characters do.
Meanwhile, most of the bad guys running around in this trailer look Middle Easternish, and they speak something other than English or Japanese (not sure if it's a real language or not).
Are people really complaining about the FFXIII games not having male leads? Really? Have they played Dissidia and seen the male/female ratio?
