My town has a train station and we're just a few stops from the biggest city in the prefecture...which isn't actually that big (300,000 ppl), but it's got everything I need. I've lived in the countryside before, so it doesn't bother me. Plus I can always go to Tokyo, which is a couple hours away by bullet train.
