Ah, well it is an AMAZING sci-fi trilogy that totally destroys the concept of the "universal" he through using the universal she (and implicitly confronting the reader with their own bias). There are a million other reasons why that book series is amazing (I am particularly squee-filled about it right now because I just met the author at a con last weekend and she is SO GREAT) but anyway, the AI in the book get referred to as "it" but all the people are "she." I will stop babbling and drunk commenting and go back to drunk blogging :P
