Get paid for your fanfics! No, really!

I am floored by the fact that there's a literary contest that accepts fanfiction entries, not to mention comics, 'zines, spoken word, you name it. Plus all the normal stuff like short fiction and poetry yadda yadda. They're mainly looking for self-published or independent publisher books--those are the only types of entries eligible for the grand prize of $1000 and a flight to Los Angeles, I think--but the other category winners get prizes too. I'm quite sure the contest is legit, since it's associated with a book festival and I heard about the whole thing from an industry source.

Am so weirded out.

[Edit] Whoops, didn't notice the $50 US entry fee. 'Tis a scam after all, le sigh.
