Thank you for the comments! I definitely agree that most Japanese boys don't mind cute things (my boys wear barettes too!), but if it's a present from a girl they might suddenly develop a disliking for bunny rabbits and such. And Hikaru strikes me as the type of boy who'd do that. Shounen Jump hero and all. :)
