I definitely make big generalizations about "Western fandoms," yeah. I think my impression of "Western fandoms=good" comes from this one excellent Buffy fic I read this one time. I haven't read enough bad fics, perhaps.

I think the writing in Hikago is pretty good, but the number of fics out there that truly wow me is low. I think what I want is more engrossing plots. Well, maybe that's just me reading too many fics in the fandom.
