I was too young too, and I think his use of character voice isn't all that noticeable in Ender's Game compared to some of his other books. Partly because Ender's Game is told from only one point of view (Ender's), for the most part.

True, true. :) I think I just read too much fanfiction and get a little tired of the re-occuring themes and turns of phrase.
