Yes, Orson Scott Card uses wonderfully clear, deceptively simple language. I think it's his best trait, along with his strong use of character voice.
I also get annoyed when a fic ignores/de-emphasizes the importance of Go to the characters, but at the same time I find it hard to write about Go in a way that hasn't already been done before. Obviously there are plenty of things to say, but it's hard to come up with something new. >_
