I feel kind of lame for doing this, but I started a blind_go meme expressly for the purpose of procrastination! And spying on all the writers, but let's not mention that.

Anyway, my answers to the meme are under the cut, yo.

Books/Authors that have influenced your writing

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. I love the quickness of Card's prose. And the raw emotion. And how does he make so many characters with so few lines so likeable in such a short time? Gah, this book.

Green Grass, Running Water by Thomas King. Word play galore. There's a particular technique used in this book that I love to copy. Not gonna say what it is though. :P


Fanfics/Fanficcers that have influenced your writing

prillalar and orangensaft (just to freak you out, Ju) 

Both of these authors have prose that's easy and natural, smooth as butter. And they have the ability to say so much with just a few simple words. I don't actually write like them--my prose is a lot more awkward and rambly--but one day I will!

Favourite HnG Character(s)

Waya is the character I love for no real reason. Waya Waya Waya Waya. Why? I suspect it has to do with the hair. Whenever I see a character with that sort of haircut I instantly fall in love. And he's got such definite strengths and weaknesses in his personality. I like that. He's just a fun guy.

But as much as I love Waya, Hikaru is the character who really interests me. He grows up, he breaks your heart. He's the reason I stick around in this fandom.

Go Fish (serious) "Only those who are playing can see into the depths." Waya, Touya, Hikaru and a lot of fishy metaphors.

Memoirs of a Go Player (crack) The diary of Touya Akira. That is, if Touya Akira were a crazy stalker.

For HnG, I write completely serious or completely crackalicious fics, nothing in between. But maybe I'll try to mix it up a little for this round, who knows.

Okay, maybe not.

I'm currently living in Japan to teach English, like a real live anime geek. This doesn't mean I know Japanese or tons of stuff about Japanese culture or history. What it does mean is that I'm thinking about one day visiting the Go Instititute or the Shuusaku Museum. Geek geek geek geek.
